Free museums in Mexico city

Knowing your city does not necessarily mean spending, it is common to look for economic options while also looking for quality, investigate which are the permanently free museums, the special days where access is free and promotions for students, teachers and seniors. 

Remember: students, seniors and teachers: bring your valid credential and ask for your discount.


It is important that you remember that although they do not cost you, maintaining buildings, collections, security, is very expensive so value it and take care of them. As a reference, museums in other countries have costs of around 25 to 30 dollars, 400 to 600 Mexican pesos approximately while expensive museums in Mexico cost about 80-120 pesos and by the way, our museums are top quality.

Sometimes the permission to take pictures has a cost as in the Franz Mayer Museum so ask first and do not cheat, pay your 5 pesos and take your photos legally. Also remember NO FLASH and NO TOUCHING.
