Night picnic at the Botanical Garden of Chapultepec

 Visiting the botanical garden of Chapultepec is an experience that I enjoy very much but I had never done it at night and less as a picnic.

It all started with one of those pages on social networks where "Night picnic in the botanical garden of Chapultepec" appeared, oh surprise, the event was that same night, it was a complicated Saturday, you had to go to the dry cleaners, some earrings at home and then a formal family meal.

The stars aligned and at 19 hrs I was free and at home, what do we do today they asked at home? and that I remember the publication I had read, we put on jeans, tennis a good jacket, we located a mat of yesteryear and we launched ourselves to Chapultepec.

 Night picnics are held once a month during the last Saturday of the month, it is a free "event" where each family, each couple, each group of friends "arms" their party. 

There are delimited areas that you can visit and where you can have your picnic, well lit, well set and very careful.

Ideal to walk and walk the walkways, admire the gardens and enjoy the forest in the city.

We went without being fully prepared but after the experience, I made this list with suggestions of what to take and what not to take.

Don't forget to bring:

• Picnic basket with groceries for dinner, for example something to prepare on site such as cold meats, bread and cheese; sandwiches or cakes. 
• You can also  order uber eats and they will take your pizza, tacos or whatever you find on offer in the area and take it to the door of the forest.
•  Tablecloth, red and white squares, clear, the special for picnic
•  Bring your wine and glasses, preferably not disposable, it is about enjoying the forest in the city so the less garbage you generate, the better.
• We carried a couple of board games, and it was a really good idea.
• Some brought blankets, I think it wasn't neccesary since you can wear a jacket.

Prohibited items

• Candles and matches.   They are prohibited.  You don't want to end up in a fire.
• Recorders or speakers.  There is music for the occasion, in addition, there are many groups of people and we must respect that we are sharing the place.
• No drugs or narcotics, there is intensive security touring the place.
• Pets.

WARNING

• For safety reasons, the evening picnic is suspended in case of rain or thunderstorm

Finishing the picnic, you are a step away from the skyscraper area of Reforma, they look very nice at night. There is also the commemorative sculpture of the bicentennial better known as the "cookie".
