Vasconcelos Library

When it comes to books in the CDMX, it is impossible not to think of the Vasconcelos Library, I do not know about architecture but this library is imposing, get ready to visit it with enough time and get lost in its stairs, corridors, multiple rooms, green spaces and areas to study and enjoy reading, browsing, listening and touching books.  I have not investigated further but surely it is found in the most modern libraries in the world.

Some facts:

Opening: May 2006
Architect: Alberto Kalach (Mexican)
Collection: 600,000 books
Capacity: 2,000,000 books
Capacity: 5,000 people daily
Offers home loan

When you enter, you already feel butterflies in your stomach, you turn your head up, to one side and to the other, you will see an endless number of shelves that seem to have no end.

As you move up, up and down stairs, elevators and corridors you are facing more and more works, books, records, scores, videos, newspapers and magazines.

One, another, another more, rooms and spaces for you to settle and enjoy the material you have chosen and if you did not finish it and want to continue enjoying it, do not worry, you can take it as a home loan, eye, the line for the procedure I saw long, take your time.

Reading areas in the library

I read on the library page that they have 400 computers
.

It has not touched me when I have gone but as I read, there are concerts, conferences, workshops. Check the billboard

The shelf is designed to extend and thus be able to house more material, it still fits 1,400,000 additional works, "it seems" that there is still no need to worry about space.

This library is EDUCAL

When it opened its doors, it had to close due to leaks and some failures, it required additional investment to correct the failures.  Also, in 2019, there were some conflicts that caused the closure. Hopefully the Secretary of Culture can maintain this enclosure of knowledge and recreation where with or without resources you can go at no cost and learn
