Ernesto Pugibet Street, 21, CDMX Downtown

Looks like a regular mexican market, as any other, you can find piñatas, traditional candies, fruits, vegetables, meat, nuts, seeds, etc. However, this market is marvelous and it is also for sight.

My recommendation is to plan for breakfast or lunch on site, first, to go through the ailes, market is small, it will be easy for you to go trhough it to identify what do you want.

Choose from a variety of cheese and jams, sausages and more.

I suggest you to try an insects taco: crickets, chicatana ants, scorpions or get your insects "chips" bag . You will find them salted, with chili and others. If you have not tried yet, taste is similar to dry fish and in addition, you will be benefit by the food of the future, they have high levels of proteins.

Here you will have exotic meats, I tried tapas of lion, crocodile, ostrich, wild boar, buffalo and deer.

Baguettes are also a good alternative to try.

Some of the stores are prepared with tables and chairs, others are designed for stand up eaters.

If you prefer fish and seafood. there are fish tanks with live animals including oysters, crab, lobster.  You will have a cooker preparing your oysters right there, so fresh that they are still moving. You can find salmon and other exquisite fishes and huge shrimps!!!

Try the alternatives for wine and handmade beers.

For dessert, you can gent sweet tapas as combination of cheese with honey or delicious jams.

To take home....

Fruits and vegetables are arranged in a very stetic way but also are bigger and brighter, and of course more delicious. You will find ones that you have never seen before.  Some dealers offer samples. if you do try those, it will be so delicious that you won't say no to figs, berries, mangoes, Brussel cabbages, shallots and more.
