Chapultepec
is the largest city park in the world, larger than Central Park in New York.
It has 4
sections, each with its own charm and all of them different, I haven't decided
yet which one is my favorite.
- First Section, with a great cultural offer,
archaeological remains, lakes and beautiful walking roads. And of
course, the Castle of Chapultepec, among others.
- Second Section, full of fountains, area for
runners, restaurants, lakes, Museum of Natural History, Dolores Reservoir
and Aztlán Park among others.
- The Fourth Section, with
the Cineteca Chapultepec, gunpowder factory from XIX century and connections with other interesting places through the
Cablebus line 3.
- Third
Section: Let's go deeper into this section!!!
- To visit the 3rd, I recommend
you take the Cablebus line 3 and get off at the Parkur/Parque Cri Cri
station, seeing Chapultepec from the air is very impressive, it will give
you an idea of where you will be walking.
- Very close to the station is
the first stop of the ride, the Cri Cri park, an ideal place to take the
children to a quiet park, zip line, swings, slides and more.
- Passing the park, you will
start to enter the forest, you will arrive at Parkur Park, where you will
find a skateboard track. The walls are graffitied which gives it a very
interesting tone,
- From this moment on, the path
takes you to the Snakes and Stairs route, a route that takes you along
walkways full of vegetation. The landscapes are
beautiful, there are many butterflies, I even saw Monarch .
There are
very few people in the area, I suggest you, don't go alone. Also consider that
once you have started the Snakes and Stairs route, the road is long, evaluate
if you are physically fit to do it.
- There are many grasshoppers
honoring the Cerro del Chapulín, this is the meaning of Chapultepec. There
are also many wild sunflowers, pumpkin plants and in the raining season wild strawberries.
The third
section is adjacent to the second section, very close to the "El
Sope" corridor route. If you arrive there, it means that you went through the
entire section. Use the map as a guide.
Enjoy and
take care of the Chapultepec forest that belongs to everyone!!.
