Santa María Tepepan is one of the original towns recognized in Mexico City, the church dates back to the 17th century, and adjacent to it remains part of what was the monastery. Tepepan means 'at the top of the hill,' and that is exactly where the church is located.
I found this nice painting made by elderly people from a Seniors Residence in the area.
The streets are narrowed and intricated, the small businesses like grocery stores and fruit shops are what you can find in the place. Get and esquite, a tamal with atole or a camote from a bike stand.
Points of interest in the area:
- Restaurants: Fonda Tepepan. gut food & cheap. Patio Ciento20. Nice and delicious, consider arriving early as it is small.
- To visit. Dolores Olmedo Patiño Museum
- Tour in Xochimilco canals
